Kathryn MacNeil

Born in West Australia, musician and teacher Kathryn MacNeil is a qualified and experienced Specialist Music Teacher, mother of two young daughters - and an avid hobby farmer in Mount Barker.

After completing a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Western Australia in 1999, Kathryn occupied a number of Musical Director roles in the local community including musical theatre and concert bands. She also successfully directed the Prendiville College Jazz Band for 6 years.

Kathryn has performed as an oboist and chorister in both community and professional orchestras in Perth and the United Kingdom. Career highlights include performances with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, various community musicals in Perth as well as key roles in projects in England and Scotland.

Since moving to Mount Barker at the end of 2018, Kathryn joined Albany Sinfonia as an oboe player where she also holds a casual role as Musical Director and Conductor. She performs as a freelance oboist with local musical productions and works at local schools as a specialist music relief teacher.
