SELECTION OF PIECES

From Preliminary to Grade 4 AMEB competitors can enter up to 3 individual pieces. That is, one piece from each of Lists A, B and C

From Grade 5 upwards competitors can enter up to 4 individual pieces. That is, one piece from each of from Lists A, B, C and D

Students may also perform non-AMEB pieces, and specialist instrumental teachers engaged by the committee will ensure these pieces are assigned to an appropriate AMEB grade.

As a general rule, repeats should not be played unless they are essential to keep the musical sense of the piece.

VENUE

All sessions will occur at the Albany Entertainment Centre except for Solo Pipe Organ performances at 8am on Tuesday morning in the Free Reformed Church (Cnr Beaufort St/North Rd).

PERFORMANCE TIMES

Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled performance time – it is never good to be rushed when performing music.

All entrants enter the Entertainment Centre via the Stage Entry door – the door under the white lettering on the town-side of the building.

As with music events all over the world, delays can occur so please note that the scheduled times are indicative only and may vary.
Every effort will be made to keep to schedule.

SUPERVISION

Students must remain in the Green room at the AEC but may join their parents in the auditorium after performing.

Volunteer supervisors will be present in the green room at all times, so parents with work commitments may drop their children and return at lunchtime or after work to collect them.

AWARDS

First, Second and Highly Commended certificates will be awarded for each item. However, it is at the discretion of the adjudicator not to award a First place if it is unwarranted.

The adjudicator has the right to withhold a certificate in any section where sufficient merit has not been displayed.

The adjudicator’s decision will be final and on no account should competitors or teachers approach the adjudicator.

ENCORE! CONCERT

All entrants are asked to indicate on their entry forms their availability to perform in the Encore! Concert held on Friday 12th June, at 7pm, at Albany Entertainment Centre.

This concert celebrates the musical diversity and excellence from the four days of music making.

The shortlist of performers will be recommended by the adjudicators, however, not all first-place getters will play in Encore! due to restrictions on the concert running time.

DRESS

Dress is at the discretion of the performer. School uniform is fine, or feel free to dress in a manner you feel is appropriate to your piece.
